That's a good start, native muna.

This is Danreb Oira. Just recently joined the group with the invitation of Sir Nestor. We're grateful to Sir Nestor for creating a sub-board for the Cavite Goat & Sheep Raisers Association (CAGSRA) and Nueva Ecija Goat & Sheep Raisers Association (NEGSRA). I'm not a farmer by profession but its my advocacy to promote goat and sheep raising as an investment opportunity and/or as possible source of additional income in the countryside.
Our farm , Walkabout Farm, was established at the confines in one of Asia's finer business schools. Walkabout is a part of life of the aborigines in Australia where a young boy will journey to the wilds and seek the meaning of life and if the boy returns home safely, he will be considered a young man. The entire process is called walkabout. We felt that venturing into agribusiness is like a walkabout for us since we're not farmers. But we only have one belief; that agribusiness can provide fair returns same as investing in stocks, bonds and any other investment instruments. Part of our advocacy is to teach farmers to take goatraising not farming per se (the way our forefathers saw it) but as an entreprise that is capable to seek innovative ways of doing business and continuously seek ways on how to create value for our customers.
Join us in our mission to create a lively, vibrant and strong small ruminant industry.

I am Jojo Vicencio. Me and a group of former classmates wanted to start a hobby farm and goat raising was our choice. We are located at Bgy Malaya, Pililla Rizal. At the moment we have a buck and 6 females. Boers are our breed of choice. I have had the opportunity to visit Alaminos Farms and was very impressed at the enormity of that operation. The people there were quick to answer my questions. This and the seemingly very cooperative spirit among goatraisers have convinced me that we made the right choice. We hope for success in our small venture. God bless you all.

Hi Jojo. Welcome. Before I forget, let me ask you if you have contacted Mr. Jun Belen who is incidentally the president of the association in Rizal. They often conduct meetings and farm visits. I am also from Rizal although our farm (with Farmer Nestor) is in Lian, Batangas. We are glad that you and your group have decided to go into goat raising. You are always welcome to ask questions and convey your experiences in the forum. Do not be dismayed by the wranglings in other forums. As in any organization, there will surely be disagreements. What I suggest you do is to filter the information which you beliveve you will be able to use in your operation. Afterall, farming is not synanymous to politics. Good luck.

Hi there, i am eileen bautista-habawel, a physician by profession and a farmer on weekends. my husband ( a lawyer by profession) and i own a farm in mariveles, bataan. we started raising goats in 2005, was encouraged in 2007 and bought a lot of goats ( 85) and sheeps (35) in 2008, lost more than half of them because of poor handling by inexperienced farm hands ; in 2009, we again started slowly but surely with what was left of our stock - 1 purebred boer buck and 12 does native and upgrades; 1 male sheep and 6 ewes. we now have 30 heads of goat and 18 sheeps ( excluding the kinatay and pinamigay). i learned a lot from the goat raisers yahoo group and this website. thanks to all of your advices and experiences shared in these sites. eileen

Salamat Dra. Eileen. We hope for your success. Sometimes in spite of all our enthusiasm and efforts we cannot do everything right. Madalas masakit lalo na para sa isang maliit na magsasaka. The reason why we are sharing our experiences is for others to learn from them and avoid painful disappointments. We are just starting and hope to share more valuable experiences to all farmers. Gandang Hapon po sa inyong lahat at maraming salamat for this website. From here we can learn a lot lalo na po mga OFW na katulad ko.
Dexter Custodio po na taga Manila. OFW and trying to start a business for my retirement. I do hope to gain as much information I can. By the way, dito po ako sa Japan now at babalik ng Pinas ng April. Sana po makasimula ako sa pag uwi ko sa tulong nyo mga kabayan.
Maaming salamat po and God Bless us All.
Lubos na gumagalang, Dexter
