have a blessed to all of my freinds specialy in this line of goat raising.salamat po at meron ganitong samahan at kuro kuro sa pag aalaga ng mga kambing.by the way po ako pala si vergel from central luson.aktualy mahilig din ako sa mga hayop dati ako nag raise ng mga pugo 10k heads sila at bumili din me ng kambing sa kadahilanan nakafucos ang isip ko sa mga pugo napabyaan ang mga kambing.tapos yun sa pagpupugo maraming kumpitensya hanggang sa isang baranggay napo kami nag aalaga sa brgy.kaya lalo kaming nahirapan sa market ng mga itlog ng pugo.at huminto kami tapos nagkaroon me oportunity pinahawak sa akin nung pinsan ko ang pigery farm nya at ako ang farm manager.sakadahilanan lumaganap ang sakit na FMD sa farm kami ay natigil sa pag pafarm.kaya napilitan ako umabroad.dito po nagkaka interest po ako sa pagkakambing kaya pinag aaralan ko kung papano makasurvive sa ganyang negosyo at kung saan mahina ang kambing.dito sa midle east maganda ang pag aalaga ng mga kambing sa bihira ang ulan mostly tag init lang at lamig walang ulan kaya nakakasurvive sila,tayo kaya sa pilipinas pano natin maiwasan ang mortality rate ng mga kambing pag tag ulan.kailangan ba ng heater kung sakaling 1linggo ang ulan sa atin?salamat po sana pagpalain pa tayo ng maykapal.

Ako po si Alex na taga San Antonio, N. Ecija. Isa ring OFW sa Middle East (Abu Dhabi). Nagsimula ako ng goat raising mga 2 taon na ang nakakaraan. Pero mali ang naging simula dahil nauna ang ang mga kambing bago ang pagtatanim ng mga pakain.

Sa ngayon po, nagsimula na kaming mag-develop ng mga pananim na legumes (ipil-ipil, kakawate, trichantera, centrocema, flamengia, indigofera, calopo at mulberry). Bale, pinapastol po ang style namin dahil tag-araw naman at araw-araw ding nagsasakate ang farmhands namin para sa karagdagang damo pati na sa buntis na kalabaw. Sa awa ng Diyos, medyo umulan na at medyo gagaan na ang trabaho sa forage development dahil kailangan talagang diligan araw-araw. Kung hindi, mamamatay sa tindi ng araw.

Isa pang setback ay namatayan kami ng 2 fb boer bucks last year noong tag-ulan. Around Php 20k pa naman ang bili namin bawat isa at hindi man lamang nakalahi.

Sa ngayon, pakiramdam ko ay medyo makakabawi na kami dahil magaganda ang mga upgraded does ko at nakabili ako ng F4 na boer from CLSU at F3 Anglo-Nubian sa isang ka-member sa Nueva Ecija Goat and Sheep Raisers Association (NEGSRA). Kakagaling ko lang sa bakasyon nang nangyari lahat ito at satisfied naman ako sa mga newly acquired bucks. Maganda ang performance nila. Pinagkakasta lahat ng available does at magana pa rin silang kumain. I have around 17 does, 10 kids, 2 jr bucks and 6 sheeps.

About our wormbin: We use African Night Crawler (ANC) worms to produce rich vermicompost and vermitea for fertilizing the vegetation in the farm. We use rice straw, dried mango leaves, goat manure and carabao manure as our substrates.

Imagine dati, sinusunog lang namin ang mga tuyong dahon na nahuhulog galing sa mga puno ng mangga at dayami galing sa bukid. Ngayon iniipon na namin para gawing pataba sa palay at gulay na tanim namin. Kasama na ring pampaganda ng pataba ang mga dumi ng kambing at kalabaw. Alam nating magandang pataba ang tuyong dumi ng hayop gaya ng manok, kambing, baka at kalabaw. Ngunit mas mataas na uri ng pataba kung ang mga ito ay dumaan sa bulate at naging vermicompost.

Ang wormbin naman namin ay mga hollowblocks lamang na dalawang patong. We just maintain it moist and covered to prevent our chicken to feast on them.

I recommend to all goat raisers (and to all households for that matter) to have vermiculture to process their wastes into rich fertilizer. It is good for our plants and our environment!

Magandang Gabi po at 8:30pm po dito sa dubai. Ako po si Jonard Tabing ng Guimba Nueva Ecija at salamat kay kasamang Joey Pandy inerekumenda po nya na magjoin ako dito sa site na ito. Pabakasyon po ako sa Nueva Ecija ngayong huling linggo ng Mayo upang simulan ang proyektong kambingan sa unang linggo ng Hunyo. Sampu kami dito sa Dubai na nagplano nito at sa internet pa lang kami nag-aaral kung papaano ba ang negosyong kambingan. ako po si rikitiks from redigetset goat farm in tagaytay. like most goat raisers, im still not earning much from the farm. im on my second year and i've sold a first batch for slaughter. still, am a long way from even breaking even. right now, its all passion! but im not complaining, i believe someday, goat meat and goat milk will be a regular pinoy diet!

Hi, Rikitiks.

Don't despair. There has been recent hype on goat raising. Testament to that is the focus of this year's Agrilink (Oct 7-9, 2010) which is SMALL RUMINANTS. While other countries have long cherished the benefits of meat and dairy goats, we have lagged behind. We are big pork eaters and unless the government focuses on alternative healthy meat such as goat's, it will be an uphill climb. Though there are signs.

I believe goat dairy is the way to go. Remember, we import more than 90% of our dairy needs. But then again it takes a lot of effort on educating people and marketing for it to be viable venture.

Before OGF even started, we knew that the year to ROI is far from sight. But like you we had the passion and the belief that with determination it is doable. We have spent much of our investments in infrastructure and forage. Getting the right stock with good genetics was also a focus. We are already seeing signs of the fruits of our labor and investment.

My view is not to discourage anybody but rather to portray a realistic picture of goat raising as a whole. Like any business venture, it is not easy but it is very DOABLE. Remember it should not be purely passion. At the end of the day, we expect not only our money back but profit as well.

Good day to everyone,

We are Boying and Lynette Llorin of Naga City Goat Farm. Our goat farm is located at Barangay San Felipe, Naga City, Camarines Sur. I am a Physician by profession but a very passionate goat farmer. Through the years we have been searching for a credible means to promote goat meat and milk because in the end we have to market them to the consumers. The meat market is monopolized by chicken, beef and pork while milk is mainly cows milk. We are going to get a share of that market in what way? The consumer is used to have chicken adobo, beef caldereta and pork lechon? Our children and most us have been used to drink cows milk. Where's the goat? A Japanese article published in the Journal of Animal Science stated that " Goat Meat and milk should not be promoted merely as a drink and food similar to the others but must be positioned as a FUNCTIONAL DRINK AND HEALTHY FOOD". It is our farms dream that in the years to come the public will make that decision to buy our products(goat meat and milk) because it is beneficial and advantageous to our health. There are several articles published in medical journals that supports this claim. Maybe some of our fellow goat raisers would like to adopt this method of promotion. Demand will increase once the public will be aware of its health benefits. And it will be a chain reaction, more farmers will go into goat raising because of that demand. Breeders will also have their share for sure. And maybe commercial and large farms will consider dispersing their goat to small farmers to increase their production. In that way, everyone will have a fare share if the goat industry will be successful.
